KollActiv (KA) is co-founded with the curator Ann Harezlak. KA's research and practice interrogates the different classification and value systems deployed in archival processes, through inviting artists to respond to two archives. Artists were introduced to the physical Chelsea Special Collections archive (London) and the digital East of Borneo archive (LA). The resultant artworks are treated as translations, in the Benjamian sense, as they carry over the musicality of the ‘original’ archived work but also maintain their own autonomy. Artists were commissioned to produce artworks for a publication and exhibition, Concrete Plastic, which was published in ArmsEye journal (LA) and exhibited at LAM gallery (LA) in 2016.
