EuroNoize

Project Manager

EuroNoize is a 2 year interdisciplinary art and music project funded by the European Commission, built in partnership with the A.R.E. (Prague), Kunsthall Oslo and the University of Reading.

From Jan 2018, I have been working as the project manager of EuroNoize to realise the key outputs for the project: conference, exhibition, professional workshops, song contest/performances (which will be live streamed and voted on) and the publishing of a book and record.

Key strands:

Exploring the intersectional practice of DIY art bands (through conferences and a publication)

Providing an alternative to the Eurovision (producing a live event that questions the format of a European song contest post-Brexit)

Initiating an infrastructure for DIY art bands (providing the opportunity for: professional workshops, a platform to discuss the institutions that can support these practices and the dissemination/exposure of these practices to a wider audience)

Interrogating the practice of representing a nation state on the global stage (performers are challenged to reflect on their relationship to a nation state through a promotional trailer for their live performances)

Reading International (RI)

Assistant Curator

RI is a large ACE funded Aim Higher 3 year curatorial programme based at the University of Reading.

From Jan - Dec 2017, I worked on the delivery of a complex range of overlapping events, exhibitions and published outputs that comprised the soft and main launch of RI.

Please see webiste for more details: https://readinginternational.org/

Key strands:

Curatorial Network – build a consortium of local galleries to share aims, ambitions and mentor each other

International Art Exhibitions – to raise the profile of Reading and to entice people out of London

Alternative Art Organisation– R:I is nomadic, it has no gallery space, so it has to engage with partner organisations to stage exhibitions

To build a bridge between ‘Town and Gown’ - so that students are integrated with the arts organisations and stay on, rather than leaving Reading for London

Long term ambition – to have a Reading Biennale or permanent complex for the local galleries
